The significance of the title. Dirge's are usually sung, and typically at funerals. This image was made in lincoln county WV. It was made Several hundred yards from the webb cemetery. I shot this the day before my grand father was buried in said cemetery. My grandfather was a true outdoors man. He loved these hills almost as well as he loved his family. In honor, a graphic dirge!

I had posted the black and white version of this on the other account, but decided to this was more appropriate to my emotional state of mind!

i think this is still my all time fav piece of yours. i've always envied your ability to shoot solidly sharp macro and your wide angle ohio river scenes drip with atmosphere but this is the one that really resonates and makes me think "if only i shot like billy webb" ;)
